Download Videos From Bebo
How to download videos from bebo

3

There are alot of videos on bebo which people want to download but don't know how to do it. So i've writen this tutorial to show you how to do it.

UPDATE: Whilst writing this tutorial, Vixy.net seems to be down so you won't be able to download youtube videos. I *think* you can use that site to download videos from bebo as well, but as the site is down at the moment i can't test it. So under the 'Download A VideoEgg (Bebo) Video:' section i have writen a alternative method to download the video without using vixy.net.

NOTE: Downloading copyright content is illegal. You may only download content that is either not copyrighted or you have permission to download it.

Method:

Firstly, you need to see whether the video was uploaded to bebo or if it is a YouTube video. It's pretty obvious if it's YouTube as it will will say it in the bottom right. Otherwise it will be from 'VideoEgg', the site bebo use for their videos.

Download A YouTube Video:

Downloading YouTube videos is very easy. If you are on Bebo then simply click the Menu button in the bottom right on the screen. The video will then go to the left and you will see two boxes, embeded and URL, copy the URL link (or click 'copy to clipboard'). OK, you now need to download and convert the video from .flv to .avi so you can easily play it on your computer. You can do this online by going to www.vixy.net. Paste the URL you just copied into the text box on the website then select AVI for Windows (DivX + MP3), then Start. It will then connect to the server, convert then download your video.

Download A VideoEgg (Bebo) Video:

Downloading a VideoEgg video is slightly harder than YouTube and unfortunately i can't find an online website to convert and download the file for you. So you will have to do it manually.

Firstly you will need to download Opera, an internet browser like Internet Explorer and Firefox. Download it free here: www.opera.com/download/. Install and run Opera.

Now open Opera, BEFORE you view the video, you now need to clear the cache. You will need to do this each time you download a video. To do this go to Tools > Delete Private Data > Details... then tick the box which says Delete Entire Cache then click Delete

Now go to the page which has the video you want to download on it, click on 'View' so it comes up larger. Leave it on this page, dont click anything yet. NOTE: You must clear the cache before watching the video.

You now need to play the video until it has completely buffered. This is the grey bar that moves to the right across the bottom of the video. If you are still not sure, just play the video until it finishes, that means it has all buffered. NOTE: Some videos have ads before them, so make sure the actual video has buffered, not just the advert!

When it has finished buffering, and only when it finishes, go to: Tools > Advanced > Cache. You will then see page with Filenames, Sizes and Addresses. These will mostly be images and files ending in. xml and .js. But the video you just played will also be there. So you will need to look for it. It will most likely be the largest file size there and the filename will end in .flv

Example:

Filename: opr005IO.flv
Size: 8520726
Address:
http://download.videoegg.com/gid329/cid1124/91/N2/119402871385K2CQvp2J0dZSBGd7rw_high.flv?showAd=true

The address is where the video is saved on the VideoEgg server. To download the video as it is, simply right click and select Save Target As and name the file as the video name.

This will then download the video to your computer as a Flash Video File.

Unfortunately, most video players (eg. Windows Media Player and iTunes) won't play this type of file. So you either need to convert it to another format or download the FLV codec for Windows Media Player.

Don't worry, it's simple, a codec is simply something that allows Media Player to play certain file types (such as .flv videos). Just go to www.playflv.com and click download now. Install it, then you can play FLV files in Windows Media Player (won't work to iTunes)

The other option is to covert the video to another file format. To do this simple download the Free FLV Coverter. When installing make sure you unselect 'Set Yahoo! as my default search engine' and unselect 'i agree to the terms of use and wish to install the Dealio toolbar', you do not want to install them. When you click next, a message box will come up, click YES, this won't install them (they try to trick you, i clicked No the first time lol).

OK, now run the program. At the top, click 'Conversion from FLV' and open the video you downloaded. A new dialog will pop up. Look where it says Format, it says AVI, this is the format you will want to convert it to. However if you use the drop down menu, you can convert to iPod, iPhone and PSP. But for a normal video, keep it as AVI. Double Click Output path and select somewhere to save the video. Then click Convert at the bottom. This will the convert the video and save it wherever you selected.

All done!

I'm sorry that tutorial is so long! I hope it's easy to follow. If i can get an online coverter to work with bebo, i will post it as soon as i can. Until then, just use the method above.

Enjoy, Brucey
